It’s taken me almost 20 years but, over the summer, I eventually got around to reading a book I’ve been wanting to read on highereducationpolicy since I started working in the area over 15 years ago: University to Uni – The Politics of HigherEducation since 1944 by Robert Stevens.
While global commentators have long focused on the rise in quality and capacity of Chinese institutions, the Indian Government’s commitment to building the scale and impact of highereducation has set the nation on a trajectory to compete with China, the United States and Western Europe for supremacy in knowledge leadership.
Ultimately, I graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition science and a new passion for a career in highereducation to ensure more students have equitable access to college and to supports, such as childcare, that help them succeed.
