The History of Higher Education in the US over the last 4 centuries is worse than horrible--from a People's perspective. To make history, it's helpful to know history. In 2026 we expect an enrollment cliff to occur, a ripple effect of the 2008 Great Recession. In many cases it has been horrifying. Much of it has not.

When Banks Lost Control of the Student Loan Mess

Although the book was an exceptional chronicle of the student loan industry from 1958 to 2013, it missed at least one key event, the 2008-2010 bailout of Sallie Mae and a number of banks who made questionable private loans guaranteed by the US government.
