In 2009, he returned to his undergraduate alma mater, Xavier University in New Orleans, an HBCU and the only Black Catholic institution in the world. Because of the dean leads, the vice provost, the team members working with me, we were able to do great things with faculty and faculty fellows.

Building institution-wide trust is essential, especially on the accelerated timeline of an interim leadership position, so Chancellor Reyes described his shortcut: "I immediately asked the president to allow me to get a provost colleague, Karen Colley , to become the interim provost. I think it's very valuable.

Brian Blake was appointed President of Georgia State University in June 2021. Prior to joining Georgia State, he was Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at George Washington University , where he oversaw academic programs across the ten schools and colleges, three campuses, and 28,000 students.

Embracing Leadership Opportunities From department chair to interim chancellor, President Stokes served in leadership positions at three institutions before joining UNM. I think that's what they were looking for when they named me as interim president. He began his career as a news clerk at The New York Times.
