Curry, who previously served as the Dean of Student Services at Compton College and has been instrumental in the colleges growth, success, and rebuilding, says that his role in this process was to also be courageous. During his presidency, professionaldevelopment access and opportunity was the core of his direction for the Association. To this day, Dr. Shang continues to be an active supporter of ACPA and professionaldevelopment. Dr. Shang earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate, all at Florida State University.
My daily lived experience and evolved intersectional-identity (from being an international student from India to a woman of color here in the U.S.) keeps me grounded in the importance of student success–especially, the success of those communities who have been historically pushed out, othered, and marginalized in U.S.
