According to a 2022 study, 47% of students at schools that closed transferred to another one – and 26% of them took at least a year off before returning – meaning only about a third of students immediately continuededucation after school closure. The transferability of all of their academic credits also remains uncertain.
But when I had the opportunity to pivot from academia into learning design full-time, I took the leap. Your experience teaching students—or just being an advanced learner yourself—means you might enjoy working as a curriculum manager or learning designer in highereducation or adult continuingeducation.
