The Henry Luce Foundation announced on Friday, that Holloway will become its seventh President and CEO in the organization's 89-year history. Holloway's appointment comes after his term as Rutgers' 21st president and first Black president in the university's 250-year history. history, particularly social and intellectual history.

The medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University depended on and profited from slavery, according to a report commissioned by the university, The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported. The medical college was “intimately connected” to the institution of slavery in the mid-1800s, according to the report.
