The private Roman Catholic university boasts a leadership of majority women, with women leading all four of the school's academic schools as deans. To note, this is not the first time GCU has had an all-women deanship, said Dr. Janice Warner, provost of GCU. Back in 2014, the number of women deans was just one.

During her 17-year tenure at Ohio State, she also served as associate dean of the graduate school, associate provost and director of the Center for Teaching Excellence. Following her 1995 retirement from Ohio State, she served for eight years at the Council of Graduate Schools as dean in residence, then scholar in residence.

Clark’s leadership was determined help soften the blow, especially for students who needed continuity of learning to finish their degrees. Our BSDT students are meeting expected outcomes in retention, graduation and learning, including outcomes related to their performance in Clark liberal studies courses.

We’re opening new programs this fall that I am confident will be exciting for our students. We’ve reorganized departments and schools, to try to create stronger identities for each and partnerships that will cultivate more curricular change and collaboration. Indeed, sometimes I can’t keep up.

She later held the positions of Dean of Women and Dean of Students at Albany State College in Georgia and in a similar position at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. During her years at Fisk, her students helped to institute the Student Sit-ins and Freedom Rides that galvanized the non-violent Civil Rights protests.
