The number of student visa holders arriving in Australia plumeted by 25% from 278,000 in 2022/23 to 207,000 in 2023/24, according to data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The UK government had lifted visitor visa requirements for Colombian nationals in November 2022, enabling them to stay in the country for up to six months without a visa. However, on November 26, 2024, the Home Office announced the reinstatement of this obligation for Colombians. As per the new rules, Colombian visitors, including students, who had booked and paid for a trip to the UK before 3pm GMT on November 26 will be allowed to enter the UK without a visa until 3pm GMT on December 24.

South University has been given a clean bill of health by its regional accreditor , the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). This week, SACS removed the school from Warning status and reaffirmed accreditation for the school for 10 years. The accreditor also requested a Monitoring Report within six (6) months.
