Launching six months ago, MetaApply has already partnered with 150 universities. South Sudanese refugee Mary Maker is a refugee education activist, renowned speaker and philanthropist, currently serving as a Goodwill Ambassador with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. In 2021, she co-founded a non-profit which provides higher education opportunities to students at Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. Shiksha Study Abroad The shooter – killed in a shootout with university detectives – was a professor who did not get a job at UNLV, according to law enforcement. News outlet KLAS identified him as Anthony “Tony” Polito, a former college professor in his 60s who previously taught at East Carolina University.
