A graduate of Morehouse College, Canton earned a master’s degree in Black studies at The Ohio State University and a doctorate in history at Temple University. Canton, who is also an associate professor of history, hired two faculty members in year one. He entered Morehouse intent on majoring in biology and going on to medical school.
