The Proctor Institute – housed in the Rutgers-New Brunswick Graduate School of Education – hosted the event in honor of Black History Month. The inspiration to form AMHPS came to Sullivan at a National Medical Association meeting when he was developing the medical school at Morehouse College in 1975.

And then we also do a ton of programming and events, mostly with our fabulous alumni who were always gracious in giving back their time.

Me : Just visit a medical school and you’ll be amazed by how extensively these professional schools already make use of simulations including virtual cadavers, hearts, and brains as well as surgery simulators -- leaving those plastic toy human anatomy kits that children have played with in the dust.

And again, they're at this formative stage where they're really seeing themselves as I'm this invincible human being out to conquer the world. It's the Internet combined with these human connections of these decades of other alums who have come through, who really want to help them. That's the responsibility of medical schools, right?
