At Trinity College, Dublin, founded in 1592, the early M.A. degree in Astronomy, Geometry, Metaphysics, History, Greek, Hebrew and Natural Philosophy. degree enabled Oxford graduates to vote in Convocation; and Trinity College and Cambridge graduates to vote in their Senates. This was because holding an M.A. B.D., &c.
