Today, women serve as CEOs, universitypresidents, political leaders, and cultural pioneers. Programs like the American Association of University Womens (AAUW) leadership initiatives highlight the critical role mentorship plays in creating a sense of belonging and driving professionaldevelopment.
Since we found that Black faculty members attain leadership positions through the traditional route, rising through the middle management ranks, institutional leaders should ensure that hiring and professionaldevelopment opportunities are extended to Black faculty members who have reached the middle administrative levels.
