Back in September, Western Michigan University—a public research institution located in the southwestern corner of the state—released its fall 2024 enrollment and retention numbers, much to the delight of the school’s provost, Dr. Julian Vasquez Heilig. Black student enrollment, for example, went up 2.3% in Hispanic enrollment.
